Susan graduated from the University of Washington with a Master of Social Work degree in 1992. Since that time she has worked as an emergency room social worker, a medical social worker, and a psychiatric social worker in hospital and community mental health care settings where she gained extensive knowledge and experience in crisis care work.
In 1994, she entered the private care sector as a clinical psychotherapist treating adolescents and adults in individual, family, couple, and group psychotherapy. She designed and implemented a cognitive-behavioral treatment program as the psychological component of a multi-disciplinary weight and obesity medical clinic.
In 1998, Susan began a private psychotherapy practice treating the full spectrum of depressive and anxiety disorders as well as specializing in relationship dysfunction and couples psychotherapy. In 2006, Susan was invited to be a guest lecturer at the School of Social Work of East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China, speaking on the cognitive behavioral treatment of depression and anxiety.
In the state of Washington, she is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and an Advanced Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. She is a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist and leads psycho-educational trainings in that model of couple’s counseling. Susan brings an interactive and dynamic approach to psychotherapy, facilitating psychological change and promoting optimal mental health.
